In the English language dictionary, the word ‘kimoa’ finds no meaning. While the origins of the word ‘kimoa’ maybe Hawaiian, we wonder if the real reason why Fernando Alonso chose the name ‘Kimoa’ was because of the social love for Kimi Raikkonen and his favourite expression ‘BWOAH’.
Kimi + Bwoah = Kimoa(h) //Alonso, is a marketing genius too?
THE INSIDE LINE F1 PODCAST IS HOSTED BY MITHILA MEHTA AND KUNAL SHAH. THIS FORMULA ONE PODCAST OFFERS A HUMOUROUS VIEW ON THE SPORT.
In this week’s episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we also discuss Kimi Raikkonen’s social media entry and the chances that this led to Lewis Hamilton’s exit! Raikkonen’s feed is fun, honest and witty – just like the real world personality of Kimi Raikkonen. However, if Raikkonen retires from Formula 1 at the end of 2018, I won’t be surprised if his exit from social media will be as swift as his entry was!
In the American drivers vs. Haas F1 Team debate, there’s no prizes for guessing whose side we are on. It was a massive self goal from Haas; there’s a parallel world of Motorsport in the USA which Formula 1 has consistently ignored. But for how long? We already saw how popular and well-followed was Fernando Alonso’s attempt to win the Indy 500. I am certain that if the reverse happened, it would generate as much publicity and interest world over and more importantly in the USA – a market that Formula 1 is working hard to activate.
After years of urging Formula 1 to conduct an all car launch under one roof, it seems that even though Formula 1 hasn’t paid heed to our advice, the World Rally Championship has. Yes, for those wondering – the WRC is still around, even if it is with a few cars and manufacturers only.
Finally, what’s Daniil Kvyat doing in Ferrari? Well, he will be doing simulator sessions and demonstration runs, at best. But replacing Kimi Raikkonen in 2019? That’s certainly too ambitious for everyone to digest. Given how Formula 1 is currently structured, there’s good chance that Kvyat will go the Jean-Eric Vergne way (Ferrari development driver to other series) rather than the Felipe Massa way (Ferrari development driver to Ferrari Formula 1 driver!).
